I’ve been a fan of How Did This Get Made? ever since I realised the Podcast app on my iPhone wasn’t put there simply to annoy me. I listened to every episode where I had seen the movie, then went back to listen to all the rest, too impatient to actually watch the film first (which I’d recommend). They pick apart and poke fun at movies and it’s hilarious.
Now they’ve added a new string to their bow, in association with Blake Harris at SlashFilm.com – they call it the ‘Oral History’ of a movie. While the podcast analyses the movie from afar, Harris interviews people directly involved in the movie and sets it on paper in a coherent form.
The result is fascinating and incredible. Here’s a quote (from a listener/reader called Gregory Eschbacher) that sums it up:
The podcast gives one great (hilarious) aspect of the movies, jokingly taking them apart. But with these articles, you really do realize how much effort and care and passion goes into making a movie, even if it’s not great.
